Six Excellent Health Benefits of Green Tea

The number of health benefits of green tea always surprises people once they learn how many there actually are. Perhaps that’s why the Chinese have been drinking it for almost 4,700 years!

Naturally, we are speaking of the health benefits green tea is world famous for.

One of the most powerful benefits that catapulted Green Tea into huge popularity here in the States was its ability to help people with weight loss. As a matter of fact it helps with weight loss in several powerful – yet entirely different ways.

The first piece of good news is regarding to weight loss benefits of green tea which are familiar to many – it’s a great fat burner. Needless to say, we have lots of people here in the U.S. really unhappy with their weight (including me) so this is a huge perk.

Green tea acts as a wonderful energy booster without the downside usually associated with the caffeine found in coffee. Actually, the caffeine found in green tea assimilates into the body in a whole different way than the way it does for coffee.

With coffee, the caffeine energy feels like a rocket blast-off and ends in a crash. Lots of people are unable or unwilling to deal with those symptoms.

The caffeine in green tea (at least for the majority of people) assimilates into the body gradually, it then boost metabolism for a good period of time , and then gently leaves the system (without your ‘crashing’).

Another way green tea works to help people shed the extra pounds is that it acts as a appetite suppressant! One of my favorite times to drink my tea is about one hour prior to meals. Personally I feel it goes a long way to ‘modifying’ my appetite when its actually time to eat.

Our third healthy payoff with drinking green tea has to do with detoxifying the body. Living in a modern society like our has lots of rewards but we are also bombarded daily with toxins found in our food, water, and certainly the air.

A number of Scientists feel that our body actually produces fat to insulate and protect our bodies from the harmful toxins in our systems! That would explain why people who go thru the process of detoxifying their body’s often lose weight as well.

As it turns out quality green teas can go a long way to helping us flush these toxins out on a ongoing basis.

Moving on the forth in our series of green tea benefits; you should know that it has been proven to reduce the ‘bad’ cholesterol  in the human body. If your body is human – then keeping an eye on your bad cholesterol should be on your ‘radar screen’ big time.

Do to our hectic lifestyle it seems we just can’t do without our fast food and processed food products. Even those these foods are often packed with the dangerous cholesterol, they offer us such convenience and time savings we will likely never go back to farm fresh food.

That means we need to stay on top of our cholesterol because doctors today are seeing people in their 20’s with heart attacks and heart disease! Any means we can use to eliminate the harmful cholesterol has got to be a part of your regular diet.

Everyone knows that high blood pressure can lead to disaster. Not only does this ‘silent killer’ cause heart attacks; high blood pressure is the cause of many of the ailments modern Americans are experiencing at epidemic levels.

Kidney failure, congestive heart failure, loss of vision, strokes, and other medical issues are often traced back to this silent killer.

Green tea not only thins the blood but supplies EGCG, a wonderful poly-nutrient which helps the blood vessels remain healthy.

So lowering blood pressure represents our fifth reward for consuming green tea.

Moving on, lets turn to our sixth green tea ‘pay back’ and this one has to do with improving your digestion.

I have a personal experience with this issue in that my partner used to suffer from stomach pains on a regular basis (often several times a week). These attacks were not just bothersome – they were debilitating.

It wasn’t until we happened to meet a Japanese green tea vendor and purchased her tea that my partner’s problem seemed to disappear almost overnight!

Soon afterwards we learned that this woman’s family had been growing green tea for over six hundred years in a pristine region of Japan – where everything having  to do with tea is treated as an art-form.

We were so impressed we went into business with them!

Anyway, we’re here to discuss green tea benefits right? So let’s move forward to the next health reward shall we? That would be reducing allergies.

Allergies may not kill you, but for those of you that have them I don’t have to discuss what a nuisance they are. The great news is that green tea has been help calm allergies for hundreds of years so there is hope for you too!

I need to add a ‘sidebar’ note here – because it’s actually essential for you to know in order to gain any of the benefits we’ve been discussing here.

The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of the ‘green tea’ consumed here in the States is lousy to say it politely. In truth, its more of a manufactured beverage than it is tea, and  its more harmful than helpful to the human body in my opinion.

Beverage manufactures aren’t blind. Once they saw the trend of people turning to green tea they jumped on the bandwagon in a big way. The problem is that the ‘beverage’ they’re manufacturing is about as far removed from genuine green tea as orange soda is from a being an orange.

I only know this from the education I received from that Japanese lady whose family been growing genuine green tea for generations. After speaking to her I want back to my ‘brand’ name tea and looked up the meanings of all the extra ingredients it contained.

I wasn’t just surprised at what I found – I was mad. After that wake-up call I vowed to never buy another substandard tea again!

Whether or not you buy tea from us you must make it a priority to find a vendor who carries genuine green tea.

When I say genuine, I mean a hand picked tea grown in a pristine environment. It’s sad but 98% of all teas grown today are machine picked, and machines can’t determine whether a tea leaf is actually ready for harvest.

Think of it this way: Would you rather eat a green tomato taken from the vine too early or a tomato that is picked at it’s peak? We both know the answer.

Sadly you won’t find this quality of tea at your local grocery store – or even you local health food store. You’ll need to find a specialty shop or go online.

Your tea also needs to be as fresh as possible in order to still provide the nutritional and medicinal qualities you’re looking for. Unfortunately the major house-hold ‘brand’ names you see out shopping a far too old to be of much good –  aside from the healthy looking labels and boxes…

We actually have a good number of other green tea health paybacks we haven’t covered today such as reducing gum disease and bad breath,  Alzheimer’s, slowing the aging process and more. These and other green tea benefits will be discussed in future articles so stay tuned!
