Dr. Oz Green Tea
Dr. Oz Green Tea Tips and Tricks Revealed!
Dr. Oz and green tea go way back. He has been touting the health benefits of drinking green tea everyway from the Oprah show, his own TV show, as well as in numerous publications like A.A.R.P. magazine.
Dr. Oz’s multiple appearances on shows like Oprah was a big factor in millions of people learning about the multiple health benefits good green tea can provide.
The now very famous Dr Oz was on the show and revealed to Oprah just some of the properties in green tea which make it a standout for good health.
Dr Oz seems to be Oprah’s ‘resident’ doctor, told her he recommends people consume four cups daily. He has also included green tea to his special Anti-Aging checklist.
He notes that green tea is packed with anti-oxidant compounds which help people stay younger, and slow the aging process. Dr Oz feels green tea is a powerful tool for pushing back against the effects of chronic disease like low energy.
Dr Oz recently posted another tip on his ‘Real Age’ website for absorbing more of green tea’s free-radical fighting ‘Catechins’ into the body’s system.
He states that by adding lemon juice to your tea you’ll actually absorb a good deal more of green tea’s healing properties.
That’s because of what the Vitamin C in the lemon juice does in the digestive tract. You could substitute other fruits like grapefruit, orange , or even lime juice; but ‘lemon’ was his top recommendation.
What it does essentially does is create an acidic environment in the small intestine that allows for a marked increase of absorption of the all important Catechins.
He also was correct in pointing out that many people make the mistake of preparing their tea with water that is too hot. Water temperature of 160-180 degrees is ideal for hot green tea.
In our household we’ll let the water come to a boil, take the pot off the burner, and let it sit for up to five minutes before introducing the tea itself.
We recommend using a thermometer and the reason is two-fold. First what’s the point of over heating the tea because it could essentially ‘overcook’ the tea and kill some of the very nutrients you’re looking to absorb.
I also believe that boiling water forces whatever oxygen that’s in the water – out. The oxygen in water is important.
Oprah has also heard about the powerful effects from another one of her favorite doctors, Dr Perricone. He’s world famous for his work on anti-aging and keeping youthful skin. His most recent research and book have to do with weight loss and made a statement on her show that got Oprah VERY excited.
Dr Perricone stated, “Coffee has organic acids that raise your blood sugar, and raise insulin. Insulin puts a lock on body fat. When you switch over to green tea, you get your caffeine, you’re all set, but you will drop your insulin levels and body fat will fall very rapidly. So 10 pounds in six weeks, I will guarantee it.”
No wonder so many people are finally paying attention to green tea! The Chinese have been using green tea for over 4,000 years for medicinal purposes and it seems we’re finally catching on here in the states!
Come to think about it; isn’t it downright rare to see a overweight Chinese or Japanese person?
This Dr, Oz green tea article hopefully taught you a number of new insights to why it makes sense to include it in your everyday health plan.
